Angelina Jolie once said “People say that you’re going the wrong way when it’s simply a way of your own.” She is not my favorite actor. She DID lure Brad Pitt into her bed, but her statement matches my thoughts when people ask me about my New Year’s resolutions.
I don’t make resolutions. Why set myself up to fail? My doctor and my dentist keep my health on course. I work hard to spend our income wisely while striving to save a little money. I work from home so changing jobs will not improve my life. I am a writer. I am a soon-to-be published writer and I enjoy what I do. I spent over twenty-two years working in retail. I spent another 8+ years as a well-educated, highly stressed 9-1-1 emergency medical operator. I love helping people which is why I keep looking for avenues where I can volunteer my services while still taking care of family.
The year 2010 is upon us. All I can do is strive to do the best I can. I invite folks to read an excerpt of my soon-to-be-released book, ‘SECRET LOVE MATCH’. (available sometime in 2010 from Red Rose Publishing) at www.nancylennea.com. I have posted excerpts of my two Scottish paranormals (unsold as of this posting) on www.nancyleebadger.com
I hope some of my readers find time to make and follow New Year’s resolutions if doing so makes you happy. Remember, do it FOR YOU.
With love, Nancy Lee Badger

Well-said, Nancy!

Hey Nancy
I do make goals….write that novel and such but I don’t really keep up with them….and I don’t have consequences if it doesn’t happen. Live throws you curve balls and sometimes other things take precedence. I just have things I strive for but if it doesn’t happen, I’m okay with that.

This is the first year where I didn’t specifically make resolutions for this year. I am just striving to live my life better and fuller and be happier than I have ever done.

Good thoughts, Nancy! Our renewal and improvement should be a life-long process, not just once a year in January.
Having said that, I DID “recycle” resolutions: I just used the resolutions from last year, since I didn’t achieve them! Ha ha… let’s see, lose a little weight, get organized (especially at home), drink herbal tea (instead of soda or alcohol), get more involved with online social networking, and work out on a steady basis at the gym.

I’m with you, Nancy. I generally do not make New Year’s Resolutions. Since I strive to live my life in a healthy way, both physically and emotionally, I prefer not to be a “resolutioner”. Besides, with two small children I really do not have time to make resolutions, let alone ADD some routine or habit to my life to keep them. Just always try to make good choices and live a little better. I must say I am glad, though, that December is over and January has arrived! Happy New Year, everyone!

Very good attitude, Nancy. As for me, I set my goals for just one day at a time. I really can do almost anything for 24 hours. Before I know it, a week has past. Happy New Year.

Congrats on your hard work. I don’t make re-solutions anymore or any less. I just try to keep putting one foot in front of the other and do what is in front of me to do today. I miss seeing you everyday up here in the land of lack-O-snow. You have all the snow down there - You can keep it too.
My best to you and your family!
