We meet Jemma, the Duchess of Beaumont, some years after she had walked out on her husband, their marriage, and his mistress to live and love in France. Called home to produce an heir, she and Elijah do their best to grate on each other’s nerves.
Elijah has kept his heart ailment from her while she cannot forget her husband’s treachery with another woman. Her husband must decide whether he will take her back into his bed or possibly die in service to his country. As an MP in the House of Lords, Elijah’s heroic work as a politician is something to cheer.
But, don’t forget Jemma, doing all in her power to find a cure and get him to return her love. Both great heroes!!! A great read! ‘This Duchess of Mine’ was published in 2009 by Harper Collins/AVON Books.

As a political history bugg, I look forward to reading about a member of the House Of lords. Sound like a great love story, too.

Jemma sounds like a woman after my own heart. Why is she so forgiving and ready and willing to help him? It sounds like a story I must read.

Based on the review I’d have to side with Jemma, but I just may have to pick up a copy to find out the whole story!

To heir is human, to forgive is divine. Sounds like an interesting read.

Oh my. Sounds like another good book to read! You keep piquing my interest. I may need to throw away my TV since it is not getting watched much anymore. Thanks for another great review.

The interesting thing Eloisa James’ The Dutchess of Mine, is that here we have the MP husband who is both a swine AND a hero. Perhaps at different times of the story–perhaps as just complicated layers of a complex personality.
The point is, that I like what James has done. Only the most interesting characters–and the ones most believable because they are true to life can capture the imagination, as I think was very well done in this book.
I enjoyed it.
