2 cups (12 ounces) milk chocolate chips
½ cup raisins
1 Tablespoon solid shortening
½ cup chopped, slivered almonds
In a double boiler over simmering water, melt chocolate chips and shortening, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
*if using a microwave- put in a microwave-safe dish, heat then stir, heat then stir until smooth. Do not burn. Stir in raisins and nuts. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper on top of a cookie sheet.
Chill in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to serve. These taste AND smell so much better than the real cow pies, out on the range. Bring a smile to our western heroes, the cowboy. Can be easily doubled or quadrupled to feed ‘em all!
