Lynx, our hero, had been sold into slavery to a harem. Great for him do you say? Not quite. After ten years this non-human, of a line of people whose planet was destroyed by war which led to his capture, becomes impotent and already believes he’s sterile.
The harem puts him off women and when sold, then freed, he goes about his life sad and unfeeling. Bonnie recently lost her heart, her money, and the only help she had on her little farm when the man she loved cleared out. Oh yeah, he left her pregnant to boot. Nearly killed by one of her nasty farm animals on a planet without chocolate (my heart, be still) she is saved by Lynx who has come looking for a job.
Immediate heat makes both rethink their stand on love. After months of intense sexual attraction build and the ex comes back for more, and with other dangers thrown into their paths, their romance made me want the book to go on forever. A truly HOT read.
‘Outcast’ was published in 2009 by Sourcebooks Casablanca. I met Cheryl Brooks at a book signing in DC and scooped up both ‘Outcast’ and ‘Rogue’. This is when I realized they were books three and four of her ‘Cat Star Chronicles’. Luckily for me, I learned enough about her heroic race of men with feline features (think purring while making love) and had no need to have read the first two in order to understand and enjoy their worlds.
After reading these two, though, I went out and bought ‘Slave’ and ‘Warrior’, so Cheryl should consider that book signing a success. She has won me as a new reader!

I promise to read this next. How many books are there in this series?

She currently has 4 books out in this series that were available at the local bookstore…Slave, Warrior, Outcast, and Rogue. Fugitive is the fifth, according to the bookmark she gave me. I will ask her when it is due.
